BF200 power loss at full throttle

New motor last year. 121 hours. Typical clogged fuel filter symptoms except both have been changed. Runs great for about 2 miles at full throttle then falls on it’s face. Let it idle for a bit then go again for a shorter distance. Primer bulb doesn’t collapse. Pumping primer bulb when engine loses power does nothing. I am having the boat trailered and brought to the shop to check fuel pressures (I can’t reach to make the connections on the water).

Is there anything else I should be looking at while it is on the trailer?

Thanks

While it is on the trailer, check that you gas tank vent hose is not clogged. Blow air into it and make sure air is coming out the gas fill hole. Hopefully your gas tank isn't full or else this might not work. Also check that the gas anti-siphon valve is clear and working properly if you have one.

Moving blockage in gas tank ? That rolls around and gets stuck to screen in gas tank ? Been there

Good ideas on both but any restriction upstream of the primer bulb would cause it to collapse.

The boat had an aftermarket flowmeter installed this spring. I might try bypassing that.

The boat was rigged with 5/16” fuel hose. That seems small for 200 HP. All of the 150 HP Mercurys and Yamahas I have worked on use 3/8”. I think even my personal 70 HP has 3/8”

They finally got the boat off the lake. I spent all morning trying to figure out how to make a connection with my fuel injection service kit only to find out it isn’t an easy task unless you buy the Honda tool. It threads into a standard 6mm(?) hole and I have nothing that can do it. I considered trying to plug into the fuel line at the filter but can’t find all the proper barbed push connections to plumb a gauge to.

I replaced the 5/16” fuel hose from the anti-syphon valve (3/8” fitting) to the flowmeter (another 3/8” fitting) with 3/8” hose and told them to come get the boat to try it out. If that doesn’t work for them I will try bypassing the flowmeter completely.
