Chances are if you qualify for shirt this you are probably already retired. I figure I was the next to last generation for it.

I had one of those things (Slide Rule) as a freshman in college . . . within a few years, it was all scientific calculators.
I do remember that around 1972/73 range my Dad got what I remember was a HP35. I played with it but didn't like using RPN to operate it. Later I did do some stuff in FORTH but RPN still slowed me down. I wasn't long after this I bought myself one of the first TI's with the red led numbers.

Have my father in laws in my desk drawer.
He was a NASA engineer for the Gemini projects.

Use Excel and or Mathcad for most of the time now

Had to buy one and learn how to use it for high school chemistry in fall 1973. The department held a fund raiser to buy a digital scientific calculator. By the next year, basic 4-function calculators could be bought at K-Mart for $5.
Later in the year, we learned rudimentary FORTRAN and used punch cards on the computer at the local community college to run the programs we wrote.
