I bought a 2004 Hurricane Sun Deck SD 187. From what I can tell, the propeller has been replaced at one point. How can I find out what it would have come with originally for pitch?

The current one on there, I see these numbers 832830A45 19P

I'm assuming that it is a 19 pitch.

I have another one that I replaced on another boat 7 years ago on a 1995 Bayliner 1680. The propeller is damaged, and on that one, I can't find the pitch. I see these numbers
1511-142-23
SOLAS
ME 26 12
How do I know what pitch this one is?

Both boats have the 4.3L V6 engine

A 19” is a good general starting point. You can contact hurricane if they spec’ed a prop but often times the dealer is the one putting the prop on.

more importantly are you getting into proper wot range and are you looking to change performance ? The stock prop is set up for good overall performance across A multitude of uses, not necessarily how you use your boat.

You're correct — the current prop with 832830A45 19P is a 19-pitch Mercury prop.

As for the SOLAS prop:

  • The number 1511-142-23 is a SOLAS part number.
  • ME 26 12 likely indicates it's a 13" diameter, 21-pitch prop (SOLAS often uses odd markings, and "26 12" might be a manufacturing code).
To be sure, you can call or email SOLAS with that part number and they'll confirm the exact specs.
That said, as others mentioned — WOT RPM range is your real target. For the 4.3L V6, your goal is typically 4400–4800 RPM at wide-open throttle. A 19P prop is often a good match, but if you're under or over that range, pitch adjustments (up/down in 2" increments) can help dial in performance.

Let us know what RPM you're hitting at WOT and your typical load — that’ll help fine-tune the recommendation.

Before buying any prop....be sure your engine is running at peak performance, or you will be searched by for another prop soon. Often folks make prop changes, then realize they need a tuneup....then their prop needs can change. Best to be sure engine is running at peak perfirmance before running wot rpm tests !
